This month we are shining the spotlight on one of our newer colleagues, Jacqueline Salazar Medina, who is based at our London office, and is a Junior Insolvency Administrator.
We asked Jacqueline to answer some questions, including what got her into the Insolvency profession, what she particularly enjoys about Insolvency, and of course we also asked her what she enjoys in his spare time away from Insolvency.

What do you enjoy about insolvency? What got you into the profession?
“I enjoy that insolvency combines legal processes with financial analysis, and that no two cases are ever the same. When I graduated from university last July, I was looking to start my career in an industry where I could do meaningful work while continuing to learn and develop. Insolvency stood out because it offered the opportunity to help people and businesses navigate what can often be an unfamiliar and challenging situation.
On a day-to-day basis, I find it rewarding to provide some reassurance and support to stakeholders during difficult circumstances. At the same time, I am constantly developing my technical knowledge alongside important professional skills such as communication, deadline management, and problem-solving.”

Past career/firm experience and interesting cases you dealt with?
“As this is my first role in insolvency, I have not had previous experience at another firm. However, one of the most interesting matters I have been involved with so far has been assisting on the administration of Stephen Tyler Limited (Trading as Purely Diamonds). As one of my first administrations, it has been fascinating to see the process unfold and gain first-hand insight into the importance of collaboration, attention to detail, and managing the needs of different stakeholders throughout the case.
As the administration is still ongoing, I am looking forward to continuing to learn from the experience and seeing the process through to its closure.”

Interesting facts about yourself, hobbies, and interests
“A fun fact about me that is completely unrelated is that I have ten stitches on my forehead, which always makes for a fun conversation starter.
Outside of work, I enjoy staying active by going to the gym and attending reformer Pilates classes. I am naturally quite competitive, so I enjoy sports as an outlet; my focus right now is swimming and tennis.
I also love travelling and experiencing different places and cultures whenever I get the chance, although that has become a little less frequent since starting full-time work.”
