Elaine Wilkins, Director of Antony Batty Bournemouth office, marshalled the three junior races at Run Bournemouth on the afternoon of Saturday 10th October.
The funds raised for the marshalling went to Plants and Minds, the Dorset-based mental health charity. In total, the charity raised £1,400 from marshalling and providing water stations.
Run Bournemouth is the town’s autumn running festival, held this year on 10th and 11th October. It is the rebranded Bournemouth Marathon Festival and now draws over 15,000 runners along the seafront.
The three children’s races Elaine marshalled were the Junior 2K for ages 9 to 12, the Junior 1.5K for ages 6 to 8 and the Kids’ Kilometre, an introductory race for ages 3 to 6.
Elaine said:
“Plants and Minds give vital help and support locally to those with mental health challenges, it is a pleasure to give my time to help them raise funds so they can continue their work in the Dorset community.”
Plants and Minds is rooted in therapeutic horticulture. The charity runs Cherry Tree Nursery in Bournemouth and Chestnut Nursery in Poole, where adults facing life-impacting mental health conditions find purpose and recovery through nature and the nurturing of plants.
Antony Batty Bournemouth has worked with Plants and Minds before
Elaine and the Antony Batty Bournemouth office have supported the charity before. Last year the office sponsored the month of April in the Plants and Minds 2026 calendar, and Elaine has known Maria Tidy, Community Liaison Officer at Cherry Tree Nursery, for over 20 years.
