Steve Illes, Licensed Insolvency Practitioner

Steve worked for National Westminster Bank for 5 years dealing with both insolvency and debt portfolios. His experience there included collections for the retail bank, corporate insolvency collections and working in the contentious and high-profile team.

In 2000 he moved to Baker Tilly, working on a wide range of cases, including high profile bankruptcies such as Jonathan Aitken, Neil Hamilton and Michael Barrymore as well as a number of Proceeds of Crime/Drug Trafficking Act Receiverships, along with both contentious and non-contentious liquidations.

Steve was also responsible for developing the client services team for Baker Tilly.

Steve qualified as an Insolvency Practitioner in 2008

Upon qualification, Steve moved to BDO LLP, where he established and was responsible for developing the client services team for personal insolvency.  He acted for a number of financial institutions, local authorities and utilities companies covering all aspects of insolvency.

He advised clients on issues arising in high profile insolvencies including Prezzo and Toys R Us.

Steve joined Antony Batty & Co in July 2018

After over 10 years at BDO, Steve  felt that it was time to try a new challenge and joined Antony Batty & Co in July 2018 as a partner.

In July 2019, Steve received his License from the ICAEW and is now a fully Licensed, appointment taking Insolvency Practitioner. He continues to assist directors, individuals and other stakeholders with any insolvency issues.

Outside of work Steve is a busy father and a stressed Brighton & Hove Albion fan.
