Antony Batty & Company Employee Focus: Will Rushing

Will is a Junior Administrator and is based at our London office.

This month we are shining the spotlight on one of our newest colleagues, Will Rushing, who is based at our London office and is a Junior Administrator.

We asked Will to answer some questions, including what got him into the Insolvency profession, what he particularly enjoys about Insolvency, and of course we also asked him what he enjoys in his spare time away from Insolvency.

  1. What do you enjoy about insolvency? What got you into the profession?

“Having graduated from university with a degree in History, insolvency wasn’t a profession that I had plans to go in to, or even too much of an awareness of. However, I did want to work in an area related to business or finance and the more I learned about Insolvency the more it became of interest to me.

The vast range of cases and companies we work with is one of the things that makes insolvency so interesting. No two cases are really the same and you get exposure to companies of all different sorts. You also feel that you can have a real impact on those that you work with, whether through helping to turn around a company or easing the process of a liquidation.”

  1. Past career/firm experience and interesting cases you dealt with

“Antony Batty & Co is the first firm that I have worked at, but even in my short time here I have got exposure to many interesting cases and been able to work on multiple different case types. One that stands out in particular was an underground vertical farm. The company in question was somewhat of an innovator and being able to work on their site was a fascinating experience.”

  1. Interesting facts about yourself, Hobbies, interests

“I love lots of different sports and am always open to trying something new. Climbing is one of my favourites and travelling to different places to do it has created some of my best memories. I also worked at a summer camp in Connecticut as a climbing instructor for three years and it was a really rewarding experience. Otherwise, tennis and golf are my favourites to play with friends.

I also enjoy playing chess and other board games. It was a great way to spend time with family during the Covid lockdowns and I have continued to do so ever since.

Finally, travelling is something I love to do when I have the time. Going to India with my family was a trip that particularly stands out and South America is the place I am most excited to travel to in the future.”
