We asked Alison Gates, an insolvency specialist who joined Antony Batty and Company in late 2018 to tell us a bit more about herself. Aside from being an experienced insolvency professional, what sort of person do you get when you work with Alison? What makes her tick? Well, for starters her favourite film is Silence of the Lambs, she really wanted to be a Midwife and she supports Southampton!
Why did you become an Insolvency Practitioner/Choose a career in Insolvency?
By accident, and I’m still here 18 years later.
Your most embarrassing moment in insolvency
A huge typo in a report which was not spotted until it was too late! You learn quickly from this type of mistake!
Your proudest moment in your insolvency career?
Working as sole insolvency cashier with 150 Insolvency cases.
What piece of wisdom would you pass onto a new recruit into the world of insolvency?
Learn to listen and don’t rush. Be prepared to take others’ opinions on board.
What is your unfulfilled ambition?
To be a Midwife.

My Dad.
Pet hates?
Being late.
Favourite book?
To Hear a Nightingale, by Charlotte Bingham.
Favourite movie?
Silence of the Lambs.

Too many to name one .
Greatest invention ever?
Air travel.
Biggest regret?
Not training for midwifery.

How would you spend your fantasy 24 hours, with no travel restrictions?
In the sun, on a beach, with those I love.
